The Summer Academic Enrichment Program is created for students in the 6th through 11th grade. Students are selected by their advisors to spend an exciting week on the campus of South Alabama. Approximately 25 students participated in the Summer Academic Enrichment Program this year.

The students faced real life challenges with the Real World Activities. In this workshop, they received a “salary” based on their chosen occupation. Students used their money to set up bank accounts, purchase a home or rent an apartment, obtain luxuries such as cable, clothes and groceries, and pay utility bills. They learned invaluable lessons on responsibility, finances, and living within their means. The students also participated in informative workshops on physical fitness, dressing for success, table etiquette, and computer technology.

The Summer Academic Enrichment Program participants also embarked upon the campus of Xavier University. While there, they visited the IMAX Theatre and the Aquarium of the Americas. They toured Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and visited Gulf Islands Water Park. They toured University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College and visited the Gulf Coast Exploreum.
