A Brief History of Collaboration between the
University of South Alabama (USA) and Fuzhou University Zhicheng College (FUZC).
Information on Fuzhou University Zhicheng College (FUZC) - Information in Chinese ( http://www.fdzcxy.com/index.asp) in English ( http://www.fdzcxy.com/read.asp?id=3467)
The collaboration between our two institutions began as many such partnerships do through the professional contacts of our faculty, specifically Dr. Jingshan Huang, Assistant Professor in the USA School of Computing. Dr. Huang in fact is a graduate of FUZC.
2011 VISIT TO FUZC by USA: In 2010 USA and FUZC began collaboration discussions specifically between the USA School of Computing and the FUZC Computing faculty. Following extensive discussion an articulation agreement was signed in 2011 whereby students would be able to take approximately 2 years of courses at FUZC and then come to the University of South Alabama to complete their remaining 2 years for a USA degree in Computing.
As part of this collaboration a delegation headed by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. David Johnson, and the Dean of the School of Computing, Dr. Alec Yasinsac, visited FUZC in the Fall of 2011. The USA delegation visited with faculty and students while at FUZC and toured the academic facilities.
2012 VISIT TO USA by FUZC This visit was then followed up in August of 2012 by a delegation from FUZC headed by President, Qiuming Wu, Vice President, Minchen Zhu, and Vice President Shibao Lei. During this visit the delegation met with 10 FUZC students, USA faculty from China, USA deans and staff to continue discussions about further collaboration and articulation on degree programs which would help FUZC students begin or complete part of their degree at FUZC and to complete their Undergraduate and Graduate degrees at USA.
