General Information
Introduction

The Intramural Program provides the opportunity to enhance the college experience outside of the traditional classroom by providing the student staff, faculty, and alumni the chance to participate in the fun and excitement of intramural competition. Intramural sports offer both an outlet for those who would prefer the arena of serious competition and a relaxed atmosphere for those that just want to unwind.

Intramurals sports offer lessons involving character, emotion, competition, humility, and overcoming adversity. All these important life lessons are learned in the intramural classroom. How one chooses to handle jubilation and disappointment, achievement and failure, winning and losing, will be as important to your personal growth and development as anything else you will experience while at the University. The classroom will develop your mind; the lessons learned outside the classroom will develop your character. In the Intramural Program, your total development is our goal, and in helping to achieve this goal, we will provide the fun and excitement. Who said college has to be boring? Get in the game!

Eligibility for Participation in Intramural Activities

  1. USA Intramurals is open to all currently enrolled students, staff, faculty, alumni, and Intramural Hall of Fame inductees.
  2. A current ID for each team member must be present at ALL GAMES. Student names and numbers will be verified weekly. Only roster players will be eligible for each game.
  3. Players cannot be added to the team roster after their last regular season game.
  4. Players are limited to only one team per league per sport. (Fraternities cannot have a minor league system).
  5. Teams caught using ineligible players can face game losses, and/or player and team suspensions.
  6. Prior to any participation in the Intramural program, all participants must sign the injury release and team roster forms. Managers are responsible for making sure that new players are added to the roster book before their participation in any intramural game.
  7. All players in the playoffs must bring a photo ID to all playoff games.
Alumni Policy

USA Alumni are encouraged to participate in Intramural Sports. Alumni are defined by the Intramural Program as any graduate or previous student of the University of South Alabama who has been issued a Jag number during the course of their enrollment. Although we encourage alumni participation in our program, our intramural philosophy emphasizes student participation and therefore we encourage alumni to incorporate currently enrolled students on their teams. To this end, the Coordinator of Intramural Sports can mandate restrictions and disqualifications of alumni teams during intramural playoffs that do not have a significant student involvement.

The following 2 plans are offered to Alumni participants:

Level 1: Rec Center Alumni Member (have Rec Center Alumni pass)

Level 2: Non Rec Center Alumni Member

Sportsmanship

A part of the philosophy of the Intramural Program is that good sportsmanship is very important to the conduct of every intramural contest. In order to encourage proper conduct during intramural competition, game officials, supervisors and administrative personnel shall make decisions to warn, penalize, or eject players/teams/fans for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Officials have the authority to remove, without warning, any player from an activity who is playing in a dangerous manner or who is demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior. That player may also receive additional penalties which could include expulsion for the Intramural Program for a year. Anyone suspended from the Intramural Program will not be allowed to participate or spectate in any aspect of the program until the suspension is lifted. These decisions will be final and without game time appeal. The Coordinator of Intramural Activities will rule on any further penalties to be prescribed as a result of:
