University of South Alabama College of Nursing
Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
BSN-DNP and Post-Graduate Certificate to DNP Nurse and patient

The Department of Health and Human Services has funded a nearly $900,000 proposal to provide a new BSN to DNP Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) program or BSN to DNP Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program (ACPNP).

Graduates of the ACPNP program will earn a DNP degree and be eligible to sit for the PCNB-ACPNP exam.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has set a 2015 date for full implementation of the DNP as the entry level for advanced practice.

Requirements for Admission:
The requirements for admission to the DNP program are located on the DNP Home Page
and in the University of South Alabama Undergraduate/Graduate Bulletin.
While NPAC/DNP classes are taught online, all students enrolled in MCN 558 (first NPAC clinical course) are required to attend a mandatory three (3) day orientation. This orientation is scheduled for Monday, August 11, 2014 through Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Attendance is required and will allow for questions and interaction with course faculty. Various clinical skills workshops will be held during the orientation.
