The mission of USA Student Activities is to connect students with organizations, services and programs that will enhance their interests and passions while complimenting academic development. We encourage both individual and group experiences that foster interpersonal relationships, promote the application of practical and useful skills, and enhance the academic learning environment. We value experiences that inspire leadership, cultivate diversity, encourage campus and community engagement, and clarify individual values.About the Office of Student Activities
As part of the Division of Student Affairs, USA Student Activities seeks to provide students with developmental opportunities beyond the scope of the classroom through involvement in activities, campus and community service, and student organizations. Our office is responsible for the registration and supervision of over 200 student clubs and organizations ranging from social to professional/departmental, religious organizations, honor societies and special interest groups. There is something for everyone! A current list is available under “Student Organizations,” and forming a new interest group is easy. Just visit the “Student Organizations” section of our website for more information.
Student organizations at the University exist as an integral part of the total educational experience. Their general purpose is to contribute to the development and welfare of the students and to benefit the entire community. Student organizations are established and managed by students and are subject to the regulations of the University. Student organization responsibilities include adherence to the organization’s announced purposes and sound business management. Basic democratic operational procedures are expected of all student organizations.
Leadership Development is another important aspect of USA Student Activities, and we are currently exploring new ideas. See our “Workshops” page for more information.
Community Service opportunities are abound at South Alabama, and our office can help get students connected. Through Volunteer Mobile and community schools, agencies, hospitals, children’s homes and day-care sites, we are able to answer many of the requests for student volunteers. Be on the lookout in your jagmail for volunteer opportunities throughout the year!© 2013 University of South Alabama | Mobile, Alabama 36688-0002 / 1 (251) 460-7003
