Graphics - Conditions of Use
The following conditions of use is excerpted from the University Publications/Graphics Standards manual published by the Publication Services department. These rules govern the use of logos and symbols representing the University of South Alabama on web pages. Comments in italics are inserted by the Webmaster for clarification.Logo
The graphic identity of the University is significant in properly representing the university's image. Care has been taken to design a visual symbol that is clear and simple. The USA logo may be used on stationery, documents (including electronic) and other printed media that represent the University. Any alterations of the logo or new logo designs are not permitted. The logo may be used in any format and size as long as the integrity of the design is preserved. When department names are required, they must be placed outside the logo design. The University of South Alabama Hospitals logo, is the only exception as it contains the name inside the logo design.
There are four (4) accepted versions of the University logo:
A. Solid color background with color type "University of South Alabama" and reversed out
B. Reversed background with solid color USA letters with reversed-out type "University of South Alabama."
C. Solid color background with reversed-out USA letters, without the type "University of South Alabama."
D. Reversed background with solid color USA letters, without the reversed-out type "University of South Alabama," and leaving a solid color box.
When the document requires a smaller version of the logo (below 1 1/4" inch in height) to accommodate other material, versions "C" and "D" of the logo are to be used. When using versions "C" and "D" the type "University of South Alabama" must appear in the title of the document or near the logo. Versions "C" and "D" may be reduced as long as the design is not distorted.
When producing printed materials for recruitment purposes outside the University and local markets (such as the Internet), the University logo must appear in either all black or the designated logo colors from the industry's standard color chart (red-186 and blue-280 1/2.) This is necessary to keep the University's graphic identity strong, consistent and easily recognizable. The University encourages the use of the logo in the established University colors. Graphic standards make an important contribution to University of South Alabama's identity as perceived by our internal and external constituencies. In the event you need a specific application which is not included above, please contact Publication Services.Symbols
When using any of the University symbols (symbols include paw prints and jaguars), it is necessary to include the words "University of South Alabama" within or near the emblem.
The "stalking jaguar" symbol may be used so that the jaguar is stalking to the left or to the right. (You may reproduce this symbol in various sizes and positions.)
The "cartoon jaguar" can be dressed to depict a particular event or sport promoted as long as the original position and format of the illustration is not altered in any way.
The "jaguar paw" may or may not incorporate the University logo, however the words "University of South Alabama" need to be placed somewhere near the emblem.
