New Employee: Link Blue Activation and Exchange Setup Guide

Follow the steps below to create your link blue account and configure Microsoft Exchange as your UK email service provider.


STEP 1

To set up an Exchange email account, login to the UK Account Manager at http://ukam.uky.edu with a link blue User ID and password. The UK link blue user ID and UKID number should be provided to your hiring official. The initial password will be set to the UK default - u$ + ‹last 6 of UKID number› + blue example u$123456blue

STEP 2

Once logged into the UK Account Manager an Account Activation Wizard will provide information and a notification that the entire account manager setup and "Finish" button must be checked before you can use your account. If at any time this process is interrupted or you quit before completing all steps and clicking "Finish," changes will be lost and you will have to start again. Click "Next" to continue.

STEP 3

Next, create a new link blue password. Click "What is the link blue password policy?" for the requirements for a viable and secure password.

STEP 4

After creating a new link blue password, create a set of Self-Reset Questions. These questions are used to reset a forgotten password or if a password expires. Examples of good and bad security questions and tips can be viewed by clicking on "How do I make good Password Self-Reset Questions." The answers you provide for these security questions are NOT case sensitive.

STEP 5

Next, determine your official UK email address. (An email address will be provided, but you have the option to alter the email address if you prefer.) Once entered, click "Next".

STEP 6

Next select the preferred employee email service, Exchange, by selecting the button next to "UK Local Exchange."

You are provided with an option to select a pre-existing email account of your choosing to forward all of your UK email. However, email forwarded to this address will not have the UK branding "@uky.edu."

STEP 7

This screen provides an account settings overview of your profile. Here you can select changes to any areas previously covered in the setup process. Once satisfied with the account settings, click "Finish" and wait for the information to process. Do not refresh the page or you will have to begin the entire Account Manager setup again.

STEP 8

Once processed, this screen informs you of your account information again. The Account Manager Setup process is complete.
