Minor Project/Construction Permit

Published: June 30th, 1997

Category: Memos

Semmy Ju, Director

In recent years, the number of planned and funded capital improvement projects has been increasing at a rapid pace. The need to coordinate these projects to ensure appropriate approvals and efficient and effective usage of our resources becomes critical. The administrative offices responsible for ensuring the appropriate procedures are followed completed an update of the current Form 90 procedure. As a result of this update, the attached Minor Project/Construction Permit document dated April 24, 1997, which specifically outlines procedures for managing physical improvements in University of Florida buildings and other related campus facilities is effective July 1, 1997.

Physical facilities are a scarce and valuable resource. The University must maintain accurate facilities information which is often used as the basis for resource allocation at both the University and State levels. The Minor Project/Construction Permit procedure ensures proper recording and documentation of facilities information in pertinent university offices. Failure to comply with this procedure will cause serious problems with public health and safety, the planning and management of our facilities, the budgeting of our operation and maintenance funds and the integrity of our insurance and property accounting programs. The updated procedures promote sound planning, programming and budgeting of each request for capital improvement and ensures all approved capital projects are programmatically justified, functionally efficient, economically effective and consistent with campus-wide facilities planning.

Your careful attention to this revised procedure is appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact the Campus Planning and Construction Management Division at 392-1256.
