Graduate Program Funding

Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Ph.D. programs offer significant and competitive funding packages for newly admitted students. This includes tuition waivers, research assistantships, teaching assistantships, student health care coverage and/or monthly living stipends. There are several categories of fellowships which typically include tuition waivers. By applying by the Ph.D. application deadline for the engineering program you will automatically be under consideration for student funding.

Graduate School Preeminence Award

The Graduate School Preeminence Award provides new engineering Ph.D. students with four to five years of full funding. Funding coverage includes tuition, GatorGradCare Health Insurance and a monthly living stipend. Annual living stipends for engineering Ph.D. students range from $30,000 to $36,000 ($2,500 to $3,000 a month). Individual engineering departments determine which level of annual stipends are awarded. Research Assistantship Award

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering provides research assistantship awards to some new Ph.D. students. These can be awarded on a departmental or individual faculty basis.  These awards typically have one year of coverage and may be renewed annually.  Coverage varies but can include tuition, GatorGrad Health Care and a monthly living stipend. For more details, contact individual engineering departments or particular faculty of interest.

Achievement Award Scholarship

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering provides some Achievement Award Scholarships to new Master’s students (State of Florida non-residents). The amounts are a one-time funding award of $4,500 which is distributed as a partial tuition waiver of $1,500 a semester for up to three semesters. Certain restrictions and criteria apply. There is no application process for this award. Students are automatically considered via submission of their Master’s of engineering admission application. Selected students will be notified accordingly.
