Welcome to the Academic Advising Center
The mission of the Academic Advising Center is to assist students in the purposeful planning of an undergraduate liberal arts education, contributing to an environment that promotes academic and personal growth, as well as intellectual, ethical and aesthetic values.
Academic Advising is a decision-making process by which students realize their maximum educational potential through communication and information exchanges with an adviser.
Academic Advising is ongoing, multifaceted and a shared responsibility of both the adviser and advisee. The adviser, utilizing a developmental, prescriptive, strength-based approach, serves as a constant facilitator of communication, a coordinator of learning experiences through course and career planning and academic progress review. The academic adviser also serves as a referral agent to other campus services.
The Academic Advising Center assists students in a variety of ways related to their academic work. The center is responsible for the advising of Academic Exploration Program (AEP)/undeclared, Liberal Studies, Qualifying Program (transfers). academic probationary, readmitted, and reinstated students. The Athletic Mentoring, and Minority Mentoring (SUPPORT) programs and the Academic Standards Review Boards (ASRB) are Academic Advising Center initiatives.
