Scholarships

Frederick Douglass was a slave who taught himself to read and write and successfully made his way north to gain his freedom. He became an eloquent abolitionist and human rights advocate. Douglass’s dedication to justice, equality, and literacy for all Americans still inspires us today. Mansfield University proudly offers Frederick Douglass scholarships to promote diversity and academic excellence on our campus.

Frederick Douglass Scholarship students must demonstrate the potential for academic excellence, leadership and the character to cultivate and promote Frederick Douglass’s values and dedication to humanity.

These one-time scholarships are awarded each spring to returning students; former scholarship recipients may re-apply. Applications are due by March 26, 2010. Submit your application to Dr. Lynn Pifer, G 04b Belknap Hall.
