It is with the deepest sympathy that we inform the Mansfield University community of the death of Dr. Margaret Launius. Margaret passed away this morning (November 15, 2010) after a long, courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Dr. Launius served as Full Professor of Psychology for twenty-one years. Margaret Launius was the epitome of every value we hold dear in Higher Education. She was a superb teacher, scholar, mentor, advisor to students, and a treasured colleague to us all. She was always a positive, vocal, articulate and passionate voice in our campus community. She challenged students to achieve their positive best and she taught and lead by the example of her life.Our sympathy is shared with her husband, Bruce, her daughter and family, and the uncountable numbers of those who have been touched by her passion for education and for life.

Dr. Margaret H. Launius

Dr. Margaret H. Launius, age 58, of Mansfield, PA, died on Monday, November 15, 2010 at her home. Margaret was born on January 27, 1952 in Ross, CA, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Grant) Goldener. She was married to Bruce W. Launius. A Professor of Psychology at Mansfield University for 21 years, Margaret was a superb teacher, scholar, mentor, advisor to students, and a treasured colleague at the university. She challenged students to achieve their absolute best, teaching and leading by the example of her life. Margaret was a member of the Tioga Co. Women's Coalition, and extremely active in women's issues on campus. She enjoyed crocheting, reading mysteries, birding, spending time with her family, her Blue Merle Shelties and Papillions puppies. In addition to her husband of 33 years, Bruce, and mother, Mary, Margaret is survived by her daughter, Marlo Marie Mann Paxson of Camp Hill, PA; sister, Ellen Goldener Bingel of Sebastopol, CA and brother, Rob Goldener of CA.
