Inpatient Hepatology Service at University Hospital UAB Hospital

The inpatient hepatology service is dedicated exclusively to patients with liver disease and is staffed by a team of hepatologists and nurse specialists.  To refer a patient for admission and/or hospital transfer, please call 1-800- UAB MIST (822-6478) and ask that the hepatologist on call be paged.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services

Outpatient and therapeutic services are provided as a comprehensive approach to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of liver disease, including CT, MRI, ERCP, Doppler Ultrasound with angiography, banding of varices ( EGD prep), liver biopsy and paracentesis. 

Outpatient Services Kirklin Clinic

Outpatient clinical services are provided at the Kirklin Clinic. We have a comprehensive staff of hepatologists and nurses that work together to support our hepatitis C clinic, cirrhosis clinic and other individual practitioners.  In addition to the our standard clinic, we also offer a specilized Cirrhosis Clinic for cirrhotic patients.

Liver Transplant Services

The UAB Liver Center is an integral part of the UAB Liver Transplant Service. We provide pre and post transplant care to the liver patient. 

Patient Education

Our UAB Liver Disease Support Group is a public health campaign emphasizing the prevention and treatment of liver disease and dealing with issues that patients living with liver disease face every day along with their families.
