The UAB Liver Center is committed to excellence in both basic science and clinical research.  We currently have dedicated laboratory facilities dedicated to basic science reserch and testing, and conduct clinical research through the GHCRP.  Our current research focuses on understanding the disease process of liver and biliary related conditions, and developing new therapies and treatment options for these conditions. We receive research funding through federal (NIH, NIDDK, etc), industry, and other foundations and agencies.   

Over the past 10 years, we participated in numerous multi-center studies and clinical trials. We are currently conducting conducted numerous clinical trials and currently offer several studies through the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Clinical Research Program.
