Telephones

Basic Telephone Instructions:

LOCAL Dialing Off-Campus
To dial off campus, lift the handset or press the speaker button and dial "8" + the Area Code + the seven digit telephone number.

TRANSFER a Call
With a call in progress, press TRANSFER, dial the five-digit destination extension number, then hang up or wait for the party to answer if you wish to announce the call.

FORWARD Your Calls
This will forward your phone calls to the extension you designate. (NOTE: Your phone will not ring while you have this feature activated.) To activate, pick up the handset or press the speaker button, "*1" + the five-digit extension you want your calls to go to (if voice mail, dial 53500). FORWARD SET should appear on the display and you will hear a confirmation tone.

CANCEL Call FORWARD
Pick up the handset and press "#1".

Place a CONFERENCE Call
With a call in progress, press the TRANSFER button and dial the desired extension or phone number, after the call is answered, press CONF. All three parties will be connected.

Change your Voice Mail Message
Dial 53500 Enter your pass code Press "U" User Options (number "8") Press "G" Change Greeting (number "4") Press "R" Record your Greeting (number "7")

Access Voice Mail from Your Own Kent State Telephone
Dial 53500. Enter your pass code. Listen to the prompts in regards to your messages: "A" to Answer, "D" to Delete ,"G" to Give (see below for details), "K" to Keep, "P" to Play

Access Voice Mail from Another Campus Phone that Is NOT Your Own
Dial 53500. When the system answers, dial the star key * + extension number + the star key * again. When prompted, enter your pass code. You may then attend to any messages you may have.

Remote Access to Your Voice Mail Box
Dial the off-campus number for voice mail 330-244-3500. When the system answers, dial the star key * + your extension + the star key * again. When prompted, enter your pass code. You may then attend to any messages you may have.

Transfer ("Give") Voice Mail to Another User
After you have listened to the message, press "4" to "Give" the message to another user. Dial the five-digit extension number that you are giving the message to (you'll hear the name of the user's extension). Press the pound key # and leave your own message to accompany the one "given". When finished, press the pound key # again and then press 9. Your message and a copy of the "given" message has now been sent.

Please note: The messages you "give" to other users will remain on your voice mail (and your voice mail LED light will stay on), unless you press "3" to Delete it - or "5" to keep it.
