Race to The Top (RTTT) is a federal grant program that will reward States for raising student achievement and promoting reform. On August 24, 2010, Florida was named a winner in Phase 2 of the competition and is set to receive up to $700 million. FAUS’ portion is $270,670. The money, granted over a 4-year span, can only be used within the scope of the federal guidelines.
On February 14, 2011, Florida Atlantic University Schools (specifically, ADHUS and FAU High School) received full program approval. Full program approval - means that all 10 projects were approved and are ready for implementation. Full program approval does not automatically indicate that work products to meet the Deliverables are final (for example, teacher evaluation systems will be reviewed for approval after June 1, 2011). Alexander D. Henderson University School (ADHUS) is a public school district functioning as a laboratory school located on the campus of FAU in Boca Raton. Within the context of an exemplary educational program for the students enrolled, the essential role of the school is to provide for educational research and curriculum development for service to public schools. It serves as a site for student field experiences and provides an excellent opportunity for teacher trainees to work with highly qualified master teachers in a model school environment.
