Physical Therapist Assistant Technology Program (PTST)

The Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant Technology gives you the skills to help people recover from illness and injury. As a physical therapist assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to implement treatment programs according to each patient's individualized plan of care.

An associate degree is earned with successful completion of 66 semester hours of coursework. Graduates of the PTST Program are eligible to apply for licensure and take the Licensure Exam for physical therapist assistants. Admission to the program is limited and selective. It is important that students considering a career as a physical therapist assistant meet with an advisor to discuss program expectations and admission requirements.

The Physical Therapist Assistant Technology (PTST) Program  and the Physical Therapist Assistant Technology – Athletic Trainer Transition (PTST-ATT) concentration at Kent State University at Ashtabula are both accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 111 North Fairfax Street Alexandria, Virginia 22314; telephone: 703-706-3245; e-mail: accreditation@apta.org; website: www.capteonline.org

Contact the PTA program secretary, Tracey Housel, 440-964-4252, to schedule a telephone or in-person advising session.
