Our students come from a variety of clinical backgrounds, technical backgrounds, and backgrounds in other industries. Some study full time, while many combine part-time studies with full-time jobs. Many are professionals with a large amount of work experience, and some are just starting out in the professional world. Prior experience in health informatics ranges from healthcare CIOs enhancing their skills to career changers working to get their first start in health informatics.

It is helpful to have either some healthcare experience or some technical experience, but motivated students with prior backgrounds in neither area do quite well in the program.
