Why Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is a combined field dealing with all aspects of computing and electronics. Engineers in this field are responsible for developing a wide array of items including: sensors, microchips, robotics, circuit boards, personal computers, mobile phone applications, software and database systems.
Some of the courses we offer to better prepare graduates are: game programming, blackberry java development, iPhone and Android projects, renewable energy systems and medical imaging.
Jointly with Florida International University cake.fiu.edu, the Department has received a five-year grant from the National Science Foundation to create the Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Advanced Knowledge Enablement (CAKE). A number of high-tech companies have already joined the Center.
The department's Industry Advisory Board consists of technical leaders and executives from these companies, who support our efforts both in research and in teaching.
