The Business Department makes up half of the Business & Technology Division. Within our department, students can pursue certificates and/or associate degrees in Business and Management, Office Administration, Business Technology, or Legal Administrative Assistant. The certificate and associate programs are career-oriented technical programs.

Certificates are designed to provide skill training for entry-level positions in business, industry, government, and professional areas. The programs are designed for individuals who are currently employed or who are considering employment in a chosen business/professional career area. Courses required in most certificate programs are applicable toward appropriate associate of applied science degrees at CSCC.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees are designed to provide general knowledge and specialized skills in business/professional-related careers. Knowledge and skills learned in these programs will enable students to have reasonable opportunity of securing employment in fields related to their majors.

Even though the AAS degrees are not designed for transfer into a typical bachelor’s degree program, some institutions of higher education have developed bachelor’s degree programs which articulate completed course work in the AAS degree.

Students pursuing a certificate or AAS program from the Business Department are encouraged to meet with an appropriate advisor in selecting and scheduling their coursework.
