Construction Technology Concentration

This concentration is a two-year program designed for those students interested in residential and commercial building, including techniques for energy efficient and solar power installation for residential construction.

*Note: in addition, as part of the successful completion of CST 2050, the PV Panel Installation course, the student will have obtained the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Entry Level Certificate for knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) systems. The student will also be prepared for the exam for the more comprehensive NABCEP Solar PV Installer Certification.

Upon completion of the two-year program, the student needs only complete one year of experience in the field and pass the NABCEP exam to obtain the national NABCEP Solar PV Installer Certification.

  • Design, plan, and manage residential and commercial construction with emphasis on energy efficiency
  • Design, plan, and manage installation of solar power generation
  • Perform cost estimation using modern computer-aided techniques
  • Manage all contracting duties and responsibilities
  • Exhibit leadership and certain technical management skills in this field
