Curriculum
The Early Childhood Education student has two options: a CDA (Child Development Associate Credential Option) or a two-year AAS (Associate of Applied Science Option). For the CDA (Child Development Associate Credential Option), the student must currently be working in an Early Childhood Education program to do this option. Cleveland State offers the course work to apply for the CDA. The CDA is awarded by the National Council for Professional Recognition.
The course work for the CDA is as follows:
ECED 2130 Clinical Practicum I (2 credits)
ECED 2015 Early Childhood Curriculum (3 credits)
ECED 2040 Family Dynamics and Community Involvement (3 credits)
Total: 11 Credits
The student if they desire can go on and complete the two-year AAS degree in Early Childhood Education and all 13 hours apply to the two-year degree.

Any student in the Early Childhood Education program must have a C grade or better in all ECED courses.
Any student in the Early CHildhood Education program is required to pay for malpractice insurance for Practicum I, II, III when paying for fees at the beginning of the semester. (Annual Fee of $15.00)
