Cooperative Education
Northeastern's cooperative education program, founded nearly a century ago in the College of Engineering, is one of the largest and most innovative in the world. Students gain up to 18 months of professional experience with the 600 engineering employers across 33 states and around the globe.
Co-op is central to the College of Engineering and the Northeastern experience. The program enables students to:

Global Opportunities
Neil Hannah, a 2011 mechanical engineering student, spent the first six months of 2010 in Fenggang, China working at Eastek International, a plastics and electronics factory. Hannah was able to improve the efficiency of the plant, which allowed the plant to add special orders and improve delivery times.
Li Buessing and Todd Eaton, both 2010 chemical engineering students, were on International Co-ops during Fall 2009. During their free time, they visited the Louvre in Paris. Li did a co-op at Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies in Paris, FR working with water purification systems. Todd spent his third co-op as a research position working with Aerogels at Italy Universita Degli Studi Di Genova, Italy.
