Making a Math Appointment
Students making an in-person math appointment should bring their notes. Most math appointments are group appointments, so you should expect that although your tutor will work with you throughout your one-hour appointment, you will also be expected to work independently in order to encourage self-sufficiency. Laptops with ALEKS are available in the Learning Center. Click here for the scheduler and be sure to select "Salem Campus Math ALEKS Appointment in the dropdown menu above the calendar.
Math appointments on the scheduler are ALEKS-only.
Tutoring for Algebra for Calculus, Modeling Algebra, Intuitive Calculus, Basic Mathematical Concepts, and Trigonometry is available on a limited basis. These appointments can only be arranged by visiting us or calling 330-337-4146.
Making a Reading or Writing Appointment
Students making an in-person reading/writing appointment should bring their assignments, readings, and any other relevant materials (rubrics, guidelines, etc.). Plan on the consultation lasting about 45-minutes long. We want our clients to leave with something accomplished, so we always ask writers to do some writing during the session. Click here for the scheduler and be sure to select "Salem Campus Writing Appointment" in the dropdown menu above the calendar.
Can't make an in-person writing appointment?
The Kent main campus provides the following two options which you may also use.
Online Writing Lab Appointments -Schedule an Online Writing Lab Appointment to send your paper to the Writing Commons. Your appointment will be scheduled with a tutor who will provide in-depth feedback regarding your concerns as stated when you submitted your paper. An OWL appointment does not require you to come to the Kent main campus or to be online during the appointment time.
Online Google Chat Appointments - Schedule an Online Google Chat Appointment to sign up for an Online Google Chat. Much like an in-person session, your tutor will collaborate with you to improve your writing skills. You will not need to come to the Kent main campus, but you will need to be on your KSU Gmail account for the duration of the appointment. Note: you will need to select an appointment with a Kent Writing Commons tutor, and then in the registration form indicate that you wish the appointment to take place online.
