Campuses Will be Closed Dec. 24, 2012 - Jan. 1, 2013 Kent State University at East Liverpool and Kent State University at Salem will be closed December 24, 2012 through January 1, 2013. During this time, all administrative offices, the Library, and Campus Bookstore will be closed.

SPTA Club Raises Money for Western Reserve Prosthetics and Orthotics Centre Kent State University at East Liverpool’s Student Physical Therapist Assistant (SPTA) club recently held a basket raffle to raise money for the Western Reserve Prosthetics and Orthotics Centre located in Warren, Ohio. The students raffled off 16 baskets made from community and individual donations, raising $1500.00 for Western Reserve.

These two readings are open to the public. Bryner will also speak to and read her poetry during several classes at Kent State University at East Liverpool.

Kent State Students Volunteer at the Largest Food Drive in Ohio More than 30 Kent State University at East Liverpool students and staff volunteered at the third annual Goodness Invasion late this summer. The event is sponsored by the New Life Church in Poland, and is currently the largest food drive in all of Ohio. More than 1,500 families in the Mahoning Valley benefited from the event this year.

Kent State Showcases New Nursing Equipment Through a matching grant provided by the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA), Kent State University at East Liverpool was able to make more than $70,000 in equipment upgrades to its nursing laboratory.

Kent State East Liverpool’s Nursing Lab Receives $70,000 in Upgrades Through a matching grant provided by the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA), Kent State University at East Liverpool was able to make more than $70,000 in equipment upgrades to its nursing laboratory. Half of the funding was provided by the state through the Appalachian Regional Commission. The remaining funds were provided by Kent State East Liverpool. Recently, all the equipment purchasers were finalized.

Kent State Salem Recognizes Nursing Students Prior to the end of the semester, Kent State University at Salem held its annual pinning ceremony at Avion on the Water for the 2012 graduating class. Thirty-five students received nursing pins signifying their hard work and dedication to their schoolwork and future profession.

OTA Students Participate in East Liverpool Beautification Project Students of the Kent State University at East Liverpool Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program showed off their green thumbs for the third consecutive year when they again partnered with the Garden Club of East Liverpool. Free eTutoring to Expand in Ohio All Institutions of Higher Learning Invited to Join eTutoring Collaborative Ohio Board of Regents today announced expanded access to free online tutoring for students enrolled in Ohio’s university system. While eTutoring has been offered on 21 college campuses in Ohio, beginning this year all public and private institutions of higher learning in the state will be invited to join the Ohio eTutoring Collaborative, free of charge to the university and free of charge to students.

Kent State East Liverpool to Hold Dodge Ball Tournament April 5 to Support Team Mojo. Kent State University at East Liverpool’s Student Government is hosting a dodge ball tournament on Thursday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at the East Liverpool YMCA. This year’s event is cleverly coined, “A True Underdog Tournament” in reference to the 2004 movie, Dodgeball. The proceeds from the event will benefit Team Mojo, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of area students.

WV/PA Students Learn More About Tuition Reduction at Info Night Students from select counties in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania can learn more about Kent State University’s out-of-state tuition reduction at an upcoming informational night on Wednesday, March 28. The reduction will be made available to all permanent residents of northern West Virginia who reside in Brooke, Hancock or Ohio counties. Western Pennsylvania residents in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence or Mercer counties will also benefit from the initiative.

Kent State Salem Announces Symphonious Series Kent State University at Salem will host three free concerts this semester as part of its Salem Symphonious Series. Concerts are Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m. All concerts are held at the Kent State Salem City Center Auditorium, located at 230 N. Lincoln Ave., in downtown Salem.

Alternative Spring Break Comes to Columbiana County Students from across the Kent State University eight-campus system are coming to Columbiana County as part of the University’s “Alternative Spring Break” program. The week-long event pairs teams of college students with area non-profit organizations. Each day, students will head out to a worksite and volunteer doing a range of activities.
