Additional RiderCourses

These RiderCourse modules together provide multiple opportunities to address not only fundamental motorcycle safety concepts and skill development, but contemporary and emerging issues such as crash trends, group riding, re-entry riders, and effects of various impairments, the effects of aging on motorcycle operation and motorist’s awareness of motorcyclists.

These classroom-only modules are designed to prepare riders with the knowledge and awareness needed to comprehend motor­cycle operator tasks for safe street operation. Classroom activities follow the lessons from the MSF Basic RiderCourse with topics add­ed from other MSF rider education programs. This course does not replace on-cycle training such as the Basic RiderCourse.

Course Descriptions

• Group Riding Module — Share the Adventure
  This is a one-hour, classroom-only program that provides informa­tion on proper group riding procedures and techniques. Stressed are riding formations, traffic strategies, and group communication. A modern audio-visual is used to highlight key points. Take-away materials are provided.
  
• Seasoned Rider Module — Aging Awareness
  This one-hour, classroom-only program is about how to be a safer rider as one gets older. It consists of several engaging learning ac­tivities that allow a rider to personally determine how age may have affected the mental and physical skills needed to ride safely. A modern audio-visual is used to highlight key points. Take-away materials are provided.
  
• Riding Straight Module — Alcohol Awareness
  This one-hour, classroom-only program is designed to provide basic information about the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the riding task, and serves as a reminder of the dangers of ridingimpaired. A modern audio-visual is used to highlight key points, and participants experience the use of interactive Fatal Vision® simulator goggles. Take-away materials are provided.
  
• Intersections Module — Motorist Awareness
  This course is the newest approach to enhancing motorist’s awareness of motorcycles. 
  This is a one-hour, classroom-only program for non-motorcyclists that stresses ways to share the road with motorcycles. Classroom activities may be tailored to meet the needs of new drivers in driver education courses, experienced drivers who may or may not ride a motorcycle, and professional drivers/truckers. A modern audio-visual is used to highlight key points. Take-away materials are provided.

Participants may attend one or all of the offered modules. 

Requirements/Prerequisites

• Must be 15 years of age
• Must be able to read and write at 6th grade level.
• Attendance/Participation required.

Class Schedule – 4 hour course for all modules!
All modules will be offered together. Participants may attend all modules or may enroll for selective modules. This course will be scheduled for Saturday or Sunday sessions. There will be morning and an afternoon sessions available.
