Prerequisites for Admission

Prerequisites for admission to the Paramedic program include a high school diploma or equivalent, EMT certification (or currently enrolled in an EMT class) and acquiring the majority (if not all) of the AAS general education requirements. The program director may allow entrance if some of the general education requirements for the AAS Degree are not fully completed prior to entering the Paramedic program. Students must be 18 years of age by the completion of the Paramedic course. New students will need to complete an admissions application for Cowley County Community College, available at any Cowley campus or by calling (620) 442-0430 [or use this toll free number: (800) 593-2222]. This can also be completed online at the main college website. Official transcript copies must be sent to Cowley from all colleges attended, and must also include high school transcripts or GED certificate. Official copies should be sent to our Registrar at 125 South Second, Arkansas City, Kansas 67005.

Selective Admissions Process

The Paramedic program has a selective admissions process. To be considered for program acceptance, prospective students can complete the
online Paramedic application form, and then send the other required material listed on the form to the Paramedic program office.

When the application packet has been received and determined to be complete, the applicant will be notified and an interview shall be scheduled. Interviews will be held approximately 3-4 months prior to the start of the program.

If you are considering a future program entrance and have not applied for entrance, please call the EMS faculty so that you can be notified of selection dates.
