Fall 2011 Activities Crock Pot Palooza

Annual International Crockpot Palooza

Students, staff and guests of Cowley's Mulvane Center enjoyed a wonderful lunch experience sponsored by the Mulvane Math and Science Club last Thursday.

The annual International Crockpot Palooza did not disappoint with many delicious options of cuisine from around the world. Italian meatballs, taco soup, homemade macaroni and cheese, chicken noodle soup, potato soup and a dish from the Philippines were among the choices available for $2.00 per person. For a little extra, lunch-goers could purchase dessert from the Phi Theta Kappa bake sale.

Associate Dean of Instruction, Greg Nichols, enjoyed the lunch and then visited with Mulvane students and staff. Also attending were students and staff from the Mulvane Academy, the Mulvane District alternative high school, which is located in the basement of the Mulvane Center.

The event raised $73.00 which will go towards a field trip in the spring. Math and Science Club sponsors are Uwe Conrad and Nancy Ayers. Math and Science Club members helping with the event were Mark Janzen, Dillon Shipman, Austin Howell and Caleb Howell.

All students are welcome to join the Mulvane Math and Science Club. They meet on the second Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon in room 109. Veiw Photo Gallery

Weiners
A free fest at Mulvane feed a hungry group

The weather in Mulvane last week was perfect for the first annual "Wiener Fest" sponsored by the Mulvane Math and Science Club. This was the first of many of the club's activities each semester, which almost always involve food. The best part was that this time the hot dogs and chips were FREE.
Club sponsor, Uwe Conrad, and club president, Mark Janzen, were given the honor of cooking the wieners outside on the official Mulvane Center grill. Austin Howell (on the mega-phone) Michael Fox and Dillon Shipman also pitched in and helped make the "wiener fest" successful.
These events give the Mulvane students, faculty and staff a chance to interact with each other outside of the classroom. All students are welcome to join the Math and Science Club - even if they are not big fans of either subject. The club meets on the second Monday of each month at 11:00 a.m. and, you guessed it, food is always served.
Drawing almost as large a crowd as the free wieners, was the chemistry tutoring that was available with chemistry instructor, Chad Killblane.
