Checklist For Applying For Federal Aid

You must reapply for federal aid each new school year!

All Financial Aid files must be complete by August 1st if students intend to use their aid as payment.

Apply for Admission to Cowley college www.cowley.edu  

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Ideal time to apply is February through April.
Sign and return your Award Letter. Be sure to Accept or Decline all offered aid.
If Selected for Verification
Provide an IRS Tax Return Transcript to the Financial Aid Office. This can be ordered online at www.irs.gov.
Provide documentation of any untaxed income to the Financial Aid Office. (i.e. child support received or paid out, workers comp. etc.)
Have your official High School Transcript or GED sent to Cowley.
Sign and return your award letter. Be sure to Accept or Decline all offered aid.
If Interested in Loans
Students must be enrolled in and attending at least six (6) credit hours at Cowley per semester to receive a Stafford loan. (Summer hours are calculated the same as any other semester. You still will have to have 6 hours at Cowley to be eligible for a loan.)
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Available online at www.fafsa.gov.
Complete financial aid file, returning all requested documentation to the Financial Aid Office.
Sign and return your Award Letter to the Financial Aid Office. Be sure to Accept or Decline all offered aid.
Complete the online loan process at www.studentloans.gov.You must complete the Entrance Counseling (for sub/unsub Stafford loans) and the Master Promissory Note.
For Additional Unsubsidized Stafford Funds-Complete the request form ( www.cowley.edu (Admissions, Financial Aid, Forms ) and return it to the Financial Aid Office.
