Cowley College donates 933 pounds of meat

meat donation

Following the purchase of an Angus steer from Brooke Jackson of Arkansas City during the Cowley County Fair 4-H Market Livestock Auction held at the Winfield Fairgrounds on Aug. 1, Cowley College donated 933 pounds of beef to Manna Ministries in Arkansas City.

Manna Ministries is a faith based food pantry housed at the First Baptist Church, located at A Street and Central. They welcome all donations and hold a distribution generally on the last Saturday of each month. The food pantry continues to grow as they service the southern half of Cowley County.

Those pictured are, from left, Cowley College president Dr. Patrick J. McAtee, Harriet Locke, director of Manna Ministries, Locke's husband, Wes, and Richard Graves, who is in charge of distribution for Manna Ministries.

Harriet Locke, director of Manna Ministries, is appreciative of the college’s continued support.
“Cowley College has been a good partner to our pantry, sending volunteers, sponsoring food drives, and now this wonderful gift of fresh beef,” Locke said.

Cowley College president, Dr. Patrick J. McAtee, was happy to make this contribution to the Food Pantry on behalf of the college.

“We wanted to support all of Cowley County in general, and by giving the meat to Manna Ministries, we can benefit those in need,” Dr. McAtee said.
