Cowley College awards scholarships to students from 31 schools
The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students.
From Arkansas City High School:
- Abbey Ferris, daughter of Robert and Kathleen Ferris, is the recipient of a Martha Brandenburg Music Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in choir, AC Players, and SADD. She received a second place Prodigy Award in portfolio art and plans to major in art.
- Karli Foy, daughter of Debbie Foy, is the recipient of a CornerBank Endowment Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in FFA, SADD, KAYS, and completed two years of the Work Ethics program. She plans to major in nursing.
- Ranelle Rice, daughter of Randy and Tina Rice, is the recipient of a Pike Construction Scholarship. She plans to major in paramedics.
- Shanelle Rice, daughter of Randy and Tina Rice, is the recipient of a Pike Construction Scholarship. She plans to major in medical transcription.
- Keaton Barclay, son of Dana and Kim Barclay, is the recipient of a John and Olive Kappler Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in football, wrestling, and the Work Ethics program. He plans to major in welding and non-destructive testing.
- Britney Widener, daughter of Scott and Stephanie Widener, is the recipient of a Duck Dash Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in SADD, Drama, AFS, yearbook, and was the French Club president. She was a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in nursing.
- Grant Puchalla, son of Eric and Tammy Puchalla, is the recipient of a Work Ethic Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in football, basketball, track, FCA, Bulldog Mentoring, and School Counts. He plans to major in non-destructive testing.
- Bevin Swope, daughter of Teressa Hatfield, is the recipient of an Admissions Mentor Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in volleyball, softball, orchestra, SADD, and AC Players. She was an all-league volleyball player and was named a KSOK Athlete of the Week as well as a Soroptomist Girl and Homecoming Queen. She is undecided on a major.
- Ashley Hall, daughter of Allen and Sandra Hall, is the recipient of an AC American Legion Auxiliary and Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in band, Debate Team, and AC Players. She plans to major in psychology.
- Paige Givens, daughter of David and Dixie Givens, is the recipient of a Duck Dash Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in SADD, danceline, Work Ethics, KAYS, and FFA. She received a Work Ethics Award and plans to major in dentistry.
Ark City Christian Academy High School:
- Samantha Nichols, daughter of Greg and Melissa Nichols, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Scholarship. At ACCA, she was involved in volleyball and praise band. She received participation awards in volleyball and Science Fair and is undecided on a major.
- Alexis Strecker, daughter of Kevin and Rita Strecker, is the recipient of a Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At ACCA, she participated in basketball. She plans to major in cosmetology.
From Winfield High School:
- Shaina Sawyer, daughter of Jennifer Barker, is the recipient of a Creative Writing Scholarship. At Winfield, she was a member of the Scholastic Honor Roll, and received Staff Choice and Creative Writing Prodigy awards. She plans to major in cognitive psychology.
- Ashley Clark, daughter of Rick Conner, is the recipient of a Craig D. Newman Memorial Scholarship. At Winfield, she was involved in choir, Book Club, and orchestra. She received a 1 rating at regionals and a 2 rating at state, while playing a violin solo. She plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
- Ashley Manly, daughter of Jennifer and Gary Owen and John Manly, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial and Florence Stephens Scholarship. At WHS, she participated in Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and was a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll. She plans to major in psychology.
- Chelsie Mortimer, daughter of John and Joyce Mortimer, is the recipient of a Duck Dash Scholarship. At WHS, she was involved in HOSA, volleyball, Link Crew, and spirit squad. She was a member of the Scholastic and Principal’s Honor Rolls and plans to major in health services management.
- Isaac Clark, son of Kelly and Jenny Clark and Melissa Clark, is the recipient of a Vocal Music Scholarship. At WHS, he participated in Acapella Choir, Viking Voices, Vikings on Broadway, and the Meister Singers. He received a Staff Choice award and was a member of the Scholastic and Principal’s Honor Rolls. He is undecided on a major.
From Udall High School:
- Kaleb Franklin, son of Donna Gilbreath, is the recipient of an Athletic Training Scholarship. At Udall, he was involved in football, basketball, track, cross country, SADD, and Future Business Leaders of America. He plans to major in pre-athletic training.
- Abigail Mettling, daughter of Gregg and Julie Mettling, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Scholarship. At Udall, she participated in volleyball, basketball, track, Student Council, FCA, FBLA, SADD, Math Team, band, FCCLA, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, FFA, and was the class president. She was named Homecoming Queen and was the Student Council Veterans Day Essay Winner. She plans to major in liberal arts.
From Central-Burden High School:
- Michael Keith Wunderlich, son of Keith and Tamela Wunderlich, is the recipient of a John and Olive Kappler Endowment Scholarship. At Central, he was involved in band, choir, Forensics, Student Council, Work Ethics, flags manager, and Letterman’s Club. He received a I (one) rating at state all four years and plans to major in music education.
- Amanda Dory, daughter of Rick and Tina Dory, is the recipient of a ACES Scholarship. At Central, she participated in choir and softball. She was a member of the honor roll and plans to major in art.
From Dexter High School:
- Connor Stone, son of Brian Stone and Gretchen Moore, is the recipient of a John and Olive Kappler Scholarship. At Dexter, he was involved in basketball, FCA, FCCLA, and Drug-Free Dexter. He was a member of the President’s Honor Roll and plans to major in athletic training.
- Abby Crow, daughter of Brad and Tracey Crow, is the recipient of a Endowment Scholarship. At Dexter, she participated in volleyball, basketball, football statistician, Drug Free Dexter, choir, band, Math Team, Science Olympiad, yearbook staff, FCA, Bigs in School, and the National Honor Society. She was a Governor’s State Scholar, Kansas State Outstanding Student in Math and Science, and an all-league volleyball player. She plans to major in radiology.
- Cody Waggoner, son of Mike and Cheryl Waggoner, is the recipient of a Instrumental Music Scholarship. At Dexter, he was involved in football, baseball, and band. He was selected to play in the 8-Man Football All-Star game and plans to major in welding.
From Cedar Vale High School:
- Jesse Wickham, daughter of Sam and Pam Suul, is the recipient of a ACES Scholarship. At Cedar Vale, she participated in volleyball, basketball, softball, track, Student Council, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Superintendent’s and Principal’s Honor Roll and had perfect attendance two years. She plans to major in pre-nursing.
- Aspen Kill, daughter of Lynn and Carol Kill, is the recipient of a Kirke Dale Trust Scholarship. At Cedar Vale, she participated in volleyball, softball, Student Council, S.A.F.E., Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Student Council. She was a Lions Club Honor Student and a four-year member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She plans to major in business administration.
- Cathleen Call, daughter of Dwight and Mary Call, is the recipient of a Kirke Dale Trust Scholarship. At Cedar Vale, she was involved in FCA, S.A.F.E., Big Brothers and Big Sisters, band, choir, cheerleading, volleyball, softball, yearbook, and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Superintendent’s and Principal’s Honor Rolls and plans to major in music education.
- Josef Gage Rose, son of Sean and Gloria Rose, is the recipient of a Kirke Dale Trust Scholarship. At Cedar Vale, he was involved in football, basketball, track, and was a teacher’s aid. He received all-league honors in football and received awards in English and Science. He plans to major in non-destructive testing.
From Oxford High School:
- Jacob Cole Kennedy, son of Todd and Lisa Kennedy, is the recipient of a Dean’s and AC Tumbleweed Scholarship. At Oxford, he was involved in FFA and welding. He was a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in welding.
From South Haven High School:
- Cassandra Dvorak, daughter of Tad and Tammy Dvorak, is the recipient of a Jodi Sanderholm/Shanks Family Scholarship. At South Haven, she was involved in basketball, volleyball, track, FFA, JETS, Pep Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. She was the school’s Salutatorian, a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, and an all-league basketball player. She plans to major in biology.
From Wellington High School:
- Eric Ford, son of Earl and Carla Ford, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Scholarship. He plans to major in criminal justice.
- Docia Williams, daughter of Stephanie D’gonuwe, is the recipient of a Multi Cultural Scholars Program Scholarship. At Wellington, she participated in track, basketball, and SADD. She made the list of Who’s Who Among American Scholars and plans to major in criminal justice.
From Derby High School:
- Hannah Crawford, daughter of Jerald and Charity Rash, is the recipient of a Tennis Scholarship. At Derby, she participated in tennis and basketball. She is undecided on a major.
- Alyssa Brooke Eli, daughter of Larry and Heather Crow, is the recipient of a Instrumental Music Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in FCA, Student Council, band, and the National Honor Society. She was a WSU Honor Scholar/Presidential Scholar, a Kansas Honor Scholar, and received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.
- Benjamin Foster, son of Donald and Sherri Foster, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Derby, he participated in band, Student Council, Principle Advisory Board, and the City of Derby Youth Advisory Board. He is undecided on a major.
- Megan Alane Hamlett, daughter of Charles and Terri Hamlett, is the recipient of a Mary Hobart Hutchinson Scholarship. At Derby, she was involved in choir, honor choir, and youth group. She received 1 and 2 ratings at the state music festival and plans to major in literature or fashion.
From Mulvane High School:
- Allie Scott, daughter of Michael and Kay Scott, is the recipient of a Endowment Association Scholarship. At Mulvane, she was involved in Students Against Destructive Decisions. She plans to major in social work.
From Rose Hill High School:
- Matthew Priebe, son of William and Cindy Priebe, is the recipient of a Bedi Sehsuvaroglu Scholarship. At Rose Hill, he was involved in band, soccer, FCA, and the National Honor Society. He was the Senior Social Sciences Student of the Year and plans to major in pre-engineering.
From Andover High School:
- Hayley Rogers, daughter of Scot and Linda Rogers, is the recipient of a E.W. Shelton/Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Andover, she participated in volleyball, swimming, Thespian Club, and band. She received a I rating on saxophone and plans to major in theatre.
From Wichita South High School:
- Chris Johnson, son of Jim and Karen Johnson, is the recipient of a Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Wichita South, he was involved in ROTC. He plans to major in criminal justice.
From Wichita Southeast High School:
- Evette Zamora, daughter of Angel Zamora and Eduviges Del Carmen Garcia, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. At Wichita Southeast, she was involved in cheerleading, soccer, Circle of Friends, Nulites, Leadership Advisory Council, Fitness Day, and Teens Hope. She received a Student of the Month award and plans to major in MICT.
From Wichita Heights High School:
- Princess Fonseca, daughter of Dana and Jacquline McPherson, is the recipient of a Bob and Patricia White Scholarship. She was named Who’s Who Among American Students and plans to major in business administration.
From Goddard High School:
- Jess Kurth, daughter of Gary and Laura Kurth, is the recipient of a E.A. Funk Scholarship. At Goddard, she participated in golf, FCCLA< Forensics, Spirit Club, FBLA, choir, and Honor Choir. She was a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in early childhood development.
From Campus High School:
- Jamila Neal, daughter of Connie Neal, is the recipient of a Endowment Scholarship. At Campus, she participated in basketball, cheerleading, art, and drama. She received an attendance award and was a member of the B Honor Roll. She plans to major in sociology.
From Garden City High School:
- Rebecca Munoz, daughter of Robert Lee Munoz and Starla Irsik, is the recipient of a Dr. Patrick J. McAtee Scholarship. At Garden City, she was involved in Theatre Club and community theatre. She received a Kiwanis Leadership Award and plans to major in theatre.
From Cheney High School:
- James Diemer, son of Jeff and Rennie Diemer, is the recipient of a Don and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Cheney, he participated in bowling and choir. He was a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll, was a KU Honor Scholar, and helped his bowling team place fifth at state. He plans to major in game development.
From Clearwater High School:
- Dominic Matthews, son of Rob and Jordan Matthews, is the recipient of a Edith Joyce Davis Scholarship and Hall of Scholar Scholarship. At Clearwater, he participated in football, cross country, wrestling, powerlifting, track, tech-crew, C-Club, and KAYS. He received a perfect attendance award in 2007-2008 and a Distinguished Athlete award from the United States Marine Corps in 2011. He plans to major in athletic training/physical therapy.
From Scott Community High School:
- Rebekah Anliker, daughter of Marvin and Jeana Anliker, is the recipient of a Dorothy Bishop Music Scholarship. At Scott Community, she was involved in volleyball, softball, Encore, Student Council, FBLA, school musicals, and regional and state music competitions. She plans to major in music.
From Berean Academy:
- Chelsi Harder, daughter of Gary and Dianna Harder, is the recipient of a Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Berean, she was the senior class president and a member of the Honor Roll all four years. She plans to major in forensic science.
From Chaparral High School:
- Genevieve Potelle, daughter of Jeff and Holly Potelle, is the recipient of a Greg and Diana Kelly Scholarship. At Chaparral, she was involved in Key Club, FFA, volleyball team manager, and was the Technology Student Association (TSA) vice president. She received TSA national and state competition awards and plans to major in psychology.
From Circle High School:
- Jonathan Newfeld is the recipient of a Lakewynds Title 3 Scholarship. At Circle, he participated in basketball and baseball. He plans to major in paramedics.
From WOE Academy:
- Paige Vanderpool, daughter of Jon and Robyn Vanderpool, is the recipient of a Patterson Trust/Hubert and Mildred Johnston Scholarship. At WOE Academy, she was involved in swimming, track (with ACCA), and was a home economics assistant. She was accepted into the Mu Alpha Theta Club and plans to major in athletic training.
From Shiloh Preparatory School:
- Christian Harrold, son of Mark and Jenny Harrold, is the recipient of Paul and Dorothy Johnson and Allied Health Scholarships. At Shiloh Preparatory, he was involved in football, Civil Air Patrol, Search and Rescue, and shooting sports. He plans to major in MICT.
From Ponca City (OK) High School:
- Caselynn Poulson, daughter of Ken Poulson and Barbara Slocumb, is the recipient of a Paton Vending Endowment Scholarship. At Ponca City, she was involved in BPA, Leo Club, DECA, and the Po-Hi Steppers. She plans to major in physical therapy.
From Cleveland (Texas) High School:
- Joshua Weitzel, son of Gene and Kathy Weitzel, is the recipient of a Duck Dash Scholarship. At Cleveland, he was involved in Skills USA. He plans to major in engineering.
Home School:
- Elisabeth Tello, daughter of Alex and Carol Tello, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. During high school she was involved in mission trips, church choir, and was the treasurer of the Debate Club. She plans to major in liberal studies.
- Ann Hale, daughter of Don and Janice Hale, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. During high school she was involved in photography. She plans to major in criminal justice.
