Students share poetry and short fiction works during Writers’ Corner

Creative Claws hosted another successful Writers’ Corner Tuesday night in the Earle N. Wright Writers' Corner
Community Room. Twelve writers presented original works, including both poetry and short fiction.
The audience was encouraged to take writing classes offered in the program. Spring  classes include Creative Writing, Fiction Writing, Poetry Writing and Journal Writing/Storytelling.

Marlys Cervantes, co-sponsor for the club with Ryan Doom, thought it was a beautiful evening.
“We had a really great selection of works. Cowley writers are inspiring, and I always love the diversity of the selections. I continue to be amazed at the talent and passion of our students,” Cervantes said.

Included in the presenters for the evening was Grant Williams, Cowley alum and local author. Williams read various genre of poetry and encouraged students to try different types in their own writing. He currently serves on the Humanities Advisory Council.

Since this is the last major event of the semester, the club will be focusing on getting out the second edition of their literary journal, Mile Marker Review. The current and first edition can be seen at www.milemarkerreview.com.
