Cowley men’s tennis team opens fall slate with match at Southwestern
Seeing action for the first time this school year, members of the Cowley College men’s tennis team fared well in Monday’s match played at Southwestern College in Winfield.
During the fall season, individual results will count towards the players’ rankings for regionals and nationals in the spring, while team results will not be counted.
On Monday, Cowley won all five of its singles matches and both doubles matches.
“It was a good experience for our guys to get that first match out of the way,” Cowley head coach Josh Cobble said. “Everyone performed pretty well.”
Cowley had four returning players and two freshmen see action in the match.
The Tiger men and women’s tennis teams will play at Cameron University at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The match will be played at the Oklahoma City (OK) Tennis Center.
“We will be stepping up our level of competition as Cameron is always one of the top NCAA Division II schools,” Cobble said. “I want us to use this match to build on our consistency and match toughness.”
