New Irradiator Order

Issuance of Order Imposing Fingerprinting and Criminal History Records Check Requirements for Unescorted Access to Certain Radioactive Material

The State of Florida, Bureau of Radiation Control, has issued an order which mandates that all persons who require unescorted access to irradiators must now be fingerprinted and undergo an FBI criminal background check.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory commission must also participate in this process. This new fingerprinting requirement is in addition to the checks which are already carried out.

The University must comply with this order as soon as possible. The Radiation control and Radiological Services Dept. will coordinate the process of obtaining fingerprints and background checks and the individuals involved will be contacted to initiate the process.
