Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest Description: Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time college degree program at the time of entry. There are no citizen requirements to enter this contest. Open to all undergraduates and graduates attending school full-time, including trade/certificate schools. Applicants must read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and respond to one of three questions. Essays will be judged on both style and content. Clear, articulate and logically organized writing will be looked for. Winning essays must demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the philosophic meaning of Atlas Shrugged. Essay questions and guidelines available online. District Three ONA Scholarship Description: Applicants must be current members of District Three and be employed in the tri-county area (Mahoning, Trumbull, or Columbiana Counties). They must show proof of acceptance in a School of Nursing that is NLN accredited. Three scholarships may be awarded as following: One or two scholarships may be awarded to registered nurses, members of District Three, enrolled in a B.S.N. completion program; One scholarship may be awarded to a student enrolled in a generic BSN program; One scholarship may be awarded to a District Three member who is enrolled in an approved Masters in Nursing Program. Ratner, Miller, Shafran Foundation Scholarship Program Description: Applicants must be high school graduates in Ohio with preferred career majors of Engineering, Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), Biological Science (Botany, Zoology), Medicine (including Pre-Med and Nursing), Health Careers (Physical and Occupational Therapy), Religion, Teaching, and Social Work. Lakewood Hospital Scholarship Description: The Nursing Scholarship Program awards grants to students who have been accepted in or are enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate nursing program. The Salem Community Foundation Tuition Grant Program Description: This award is available to all students who are attending the Kent State Salem Campus and reside in the City of Salem or Perry Township. To be eligible, individuals must be pursuing their first degree (associate or bachelors). This program is for the fall and spring semesters only. Summer session classes are not included in the grant. If you are a new freshman, there is no minimum GPA requirement. Current Kent State University Salem students and transfer students must have a 2.00 cum GPA. Early Admission students are not eligible for this grant. The maximum award amount for recipients is 15 percent of tuition costs for classes at the Salem campus. Individuals must submit an application with the Kent State Salem Student Services Office two weeks prior to the tuition payment deadline. Applications are also available at the Kent State Salem Student Services Office. The award is renewable. Students must submit a new application each semester.
