Interim Dean Coltman

Dr. Heather Coltman

Heather Coltman, DMA, is serving as the Interim Dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. She was previously the Chair of the Department of Music, where she was also a Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies. In 1998, Coltman received the FAU Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Before coming to FAU, Coltman served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the Austin Chamber Music Center and the Birmingham-Southern Conservatory.

Coltman holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Music degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York and a Bachelor of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Owl Observer/Music of the Heart: The Heather Coltman Story

Interim Associate Dean Xu

Dr. Wenying Xu

Wenying Xu, Professor of English, is serving as Interim Associate Dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. She was previously the Chair of the Department of English. Before she joined FAU in 2001, she was an associate professor of English at Truman State University in Missouri. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994, and she teaches American literature, Asian American Literature, and critical theories. She is the author of three books, numerous journal articles and short stories. In 2002 she received a Fulbright lectureship to China. She has served on the editorial board of MELUS since 2002, and currently serves as President of MELUS (The Society for the Study of Multiethnic Literature of United States).
