Florida Atlantic University’s department of theatre will present â€Ĺ“Dangerous Liaisons,” a play by Christopher Hampton, from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 22 in the Studio One Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Shows are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m., with an extra 1 p.m. show on Saturday, April 21.

Dangerous Liaisons

The beautifully written period piece will feature exquisite costuming from the Rococo era. Set in France shortly before the French Revolution, this story revolves around the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals who use sex as a weapon of humiliation and degradation, all the while enjoying their cruel games. The play reveals the excesses of power and the complexity of manipulation for sadistic pleasure. (The play contains adult themes and situations with some violence. Parental discretion is advised.)

General admission tickets are $20; FAU students may purchase tickets for $12; and FAU faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $16. Tickets may be purchased by visiting  www.fauevents.com , by calling 800-564-9539 or at the theater one hour prior to the performance. For more information, contact the department of theatre at 561-297-3810. The play is presented by the department of theatre in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters with support from the Palm Beach County Cultural Council.
