STUDENT POSITIONS
Fitness Center Staff
Fitness Center staff are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all members in the weight room and cardio room. This includes maintaining equipment, enforcing guidelines, providing member services and keeping areas clean and well organized.
Graphic Artist
The Graphic Artist is responsible for creating and supporting the design needs for the Department of Campus Recreation. Designers must be creative while still deliver a consistent "look" in the design, layout, artwork and color for all promotional materials including brochures, flyers, posters, advertisements, T-shirts, etc. Graphic Artists should have a strong graphics background and be interested in the various programs and services of Campus Recreation. Individuals in this position need to be self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision and able to receive feedback and modify projects to satisfy the customer. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Suite Software is preferred.
Group Fitness Instructor
Instructors are responsible for designing, instructing and evaluating group exercise classes. Individuals must be personable, out-going and enthusiastic with a desire to help class participants reach their fitness goals. Must have ability to motivate others and lead a safe and effective group exercise class. Individuals must demonstrate working knowledge of group exercise equipment and protocols. Nationally recognized certification required – Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFFA) preferred.
Intramural Sports Official
The Intramural Sports Official will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all program participants and spectators. Officials must demonstrate absolute control of the game. Customer service skills and knowledge of sport are crucial to being a successful official. Officiating experience and rule knowledge is preferred but not required. We will train!
Lifeguard
Aquatic center lifeguards are primarily responsible for guest safety. This includes maintaining equipment, enforcing guidelines, member service and keeping areas clean and well organized. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certifications are required for this position.
Maintenance Staff
Responsible for inspections and minor repairs of fitness equipment and facility issues. Maintenance ensures that all fitness equipment is functioning properly at all times. In addition, Maintenance is responsible for event set up, pressure washing, painting, installation, and drywall repairs. Special projects are assigned frequently.
Personal Trainer
Personal Trainers are expected to set a good example for clients and patrons by making fitness a priority in their lives. They assess clients’ fitness levels and help them achieve their fitness goals. Most importantly, personal trainers offer education, motivation, and support while improving their clients’ quality of life. Personal Trainers must hold a nationally accredited certification.
Rec Desk Staff
Hosts are responsible for delivering quality guest service. This includes answering questions by phone and in person, equipment checkout , enforcing guidelines, keeping areas clean and organized and assisting with facility supervision.
