GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Below you will find descriptions to all of our group fitness classes. To watch a demo of the class, click on the video link next to each class name.

Cycle

Cycle: Video
High-energy indoor bicycling will push your fitness limits, building muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance through a mix of interval training, climbs, endurance and sprints. Training on a bike makes this workout low-impact, but plenty challenging.  Make this class as intense as you wish—it is YOUR ride! 

Dance

Cardio Dance:
If you are looking for a variety and fun way to burn extra calories then cardio dance is a great class for you! This class has an upbeat atmosphere and dance influences from many different styles. Come enjoy a great workout with cardio dance! 

Dance Central:
Get off your seat, onto your feet and get ready to dance! Dance Central is a class like no other, designed to improve balance, flexibility, rhythm, and most of all dance skills! In this class you'll find upbeat music, positive energy, and a go get 'em mentality that will make you and your friends want to come out for more. Give Dance Central a try and let's see how well you can shake it!

Dance Fusion:
Looking for a great way to get fit and have fun at the same time? Then try a high energy Dance Fusion class! It is a total body workout that infuses Latin, Caribbean, Hip Hop and Tai Chi movements with a variety of strengthening and core exercises to help sculpt your body. This variety of dance and strength will keep you motivated to reach your fitness goals.

Hip Hop:
In Hip Hop the only rule is... there are no rules. Anything goes! Break it down with hot new styles and fun routines. Don't be afraid to let go and have a blast, while getting a great workout at the same time. If you have a heartbeat you can dance, no excuse to not move!

Zumba: Video
A dance class with a Latin vibes, which incorporates movements that are easy for anyone to learn. Using unique moves, high energy, and motivating music participants can dance away their stress.  Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for the body and the mind!

Mind/Body

Night Owl Yoga: Video
Join us for a traditional yoga class after the sun goes down! This class is the perfect yoga class for those who prefer to hit the gym at night. Connect with your mind, body and spirit in this fitness‐based yoga class before you hit the sack.

Pilates: Video
Focus on isolating, activating, and conditioning the body’s deep core muscles.  This mat-based Pilates class improves flexibility, coordination, muscle control, posture, and strength through physical and mental conditioning. 

PiYo: Video
Expand your fitness with a unique combination of yoga and pilates that will challenge your strength, flexibility, and dynamic balance to enhance your mind-body connection. PiYo aims to deepen personal awareness of your body with a focus on core strength and breathe control that results in a well-balanced approach to stress relief and relaxation. 

Yoga: Video
Connect with your mind, body and spirit in this fitness based yoga class. Yoga classes will vary in length, but each session can provide a variety of health benefits. This relaxing and challenging workout is a combination of breathing, muscular strength and endurance, balance, coordination and other stress-management techniques.

Strength & Conditioning

20-20-20:
Get bored easily? This class is for you. Every twenty minutes, the format changes. Twenty minutes of cardio, twenty minutes of strength, and twenty minutes of core or flexibility will mix things up enough to keep you focused. This class will incorporate a perfect balance of everything a great workout needs. Variety is key in keeping things fun, and this class is a great way to shake things up.

Body Sculpt: Video
Strength training techniques are fused with cardiovascular conditioning to create a high intensity and highly effective training experience. Body Sculpt aims to build strength and physically condition the body to work at an optimal level. This class is tough and you will engage muscles that are over looked and undertrained, but most importantly you will leave knowing you worked hard . 

Bootcamp: Video
This high-intensity, athletic style of training is FAU’s take on the traditional boot camp classes!  Boot camp is a full body workout that combines cardiovascular conditioning, agility drills, and strength training moves. In this class you will move quickly between different muscle groups and exercises with little to no rest. The group dynamic of a boot camp class will keep you motivated and coming back for more.

Coreblast:
Shape and tone one of the most difficult areas with new exercises that really target your core. It just takes 30 minutes of ab-ripping exercises to keep you motivated to have that strong core you have always wanted. This workout may be quick, but it gets the job done and you will leave feeling accomplished and healthier than ever.

Kickboxing:
Need to let loose and let go of your day? Kickboxing is a great way to let the frustration go. An upbeat hour of cardio and strength is exactly what your body needs. With structured routines and the ability to add your own flare, kickboxing will let you kick, punch and jab with attitude.

Plyometrics:
Step up your game with a new style of training. Plyometrics incorporates speed, agility, and fast foot work. Similar to interval training, these medium to high intensity drills will really get your heart rate up and your foot work faster than ever. Jumps, Steps, Hurdles and Ladders will make it so this routine never gets boring, and you'll always leave knowing you really got the most out of that hour.

Tabata: Video
If you are looking for a short workout that is going to push your limits then this is a perfect class for you! Tabata is a style of interval training developed by a team of researchers from Japan. The format incorporates short burst of intense effort for 20 seconds followed by a 10 second rest period. Tabata interval training will use a variety of equipment and variations so you will never get bored.

TRX Bootcamp: Video
This high intensity, full body workout is delivered through suspension training equipment from TRX. Suspension training was developed by a Navy Seal and offers the ability to utilize the core through functional movements. It is a perfect mix of cardiovascular conditioning, and strength all in one great class.  TRX boot camp will push each participant to a higher level of physical fitness in a fun and safe environment. 

TRX Core: Video
Engage and enhance your core in a way you never have before. State of the art TRX suspension training equipment was created by a Navy Seal to provide a dynamic workout. In this TRX core class you will specifically work the abdominal region while suspended, which will present a functional core challenge like you have never encountered before. 

TRX Total Body: Video
The TRX Total Body class is designed to activate all muscle groups by only using body weight and suspended body weight resistance. With the technology of the TRX, secondary muscles are allowed to be activated without failure of the exercise. Through a wide range of cardiovascular, strengthening and functional core movements you will truly experience the benefit of working with a TRX.

Warrior Workout:
Inspired by the no excuses all out intensity of Spartan Warriors this class aims to challenge your fitness and commitment every day. Life and battle is not choreographed or repetitive so neither should be your training. Warrior Workout will sculpt your body with a variety of explosive and non-traditional strength routines to prepare you for anything. Join the movement!
