Career Assessments
The process of choosing a major and/or career often begins with self-assessment. The Career Development Center (CDC) offers several different career assessments that can help clarify your work values, interests, and skills, while providing important information to enhance personal growth and self-understanding. The career assessments are for currently enrolled degree-seeking students.
The online assessments require that you first meet with a career advisor (which can be during same-day advising hours, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Boca Raton Campus). Your career advisor will help determine which assessment(s) are most relevant to your specific situation. If it is determined that you will be taking the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or any assessments on MyPlan.com, your career advisor will give you log in instructions, and you will be scheduled for a second follow-up appointment. During the second appointment the career advisor will interpret the assessment results and develop an individualized learning plan (ILP) to assist you in achieving your goal(s).
The assessments are only a tool in the overall career development process. They will not provide students with the "magical" answer. No single assessment can tell a student "what they should be." Assessments aid students in exploring new options, solidifying current options, and/or acquiring self-knowledge.
REMINDER: If your career advisor recommends taking a directive assessment(s), please note that these assessments come with a $15 fee per assessment. Payment must be received prior to scheduling a follow-up appointment.
Available Assessments:
Strong Interest Inventory (SII) The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is a 291-item inventory that matches your interests with the interests of people who have been in career fields at least three years and are satisfied with their work. The SII is taken online, and the results provided during an individual appointment with a career advisor ($15.00)Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) The MBTI is a personality inventory that assesses preferences. The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 personality types, which relate to career choices, communication modes and learning styles. The MBTI is taken online, and the results provided during an individual appointment with a career advisor ($15.00)
