In order to give employees ample time to plan holiday trips and other activities, the University's holiday closing schedule is being announced now. President Brogan has approved Monday, December 24; Wednesday, December 26; and Monday, December 31 as days on which all campuses of FAU will be closed. These three days are in addition to the two official state holidays of December 25 and January 1.
Don't Forget University Closings in November University offices will be closed on: Monday, Nov. 12 Thursday, Nov. 22 Friday, Nov. 23
The additional days, authorized by the president to recognize the continued contributions of FAU faculty and staff to the success of the University, are considered holidays for all non-OPS employees and therefore, no leave usage is required. If personal annual leave has previously been requested and approved for the three additional days, employees will not be charged annual leave. OPS employees, given the nature of their employment, will not be paid for these days unless they are required to work.
Some employees may be required to staff certain areas that are essential to the operation of the University and, in such cases, other leave opportunities will be provided. Essential personnel will be notified of their work schedules by their supervisor. For all other days, the University will maintain the normal scheduled hours of operation and all leave requests must be approved by the employee’s supervisor.
President and Mrs. Brogan cordially invite all faculty and staff to their home on Monday, Dec. 10, for a Holiday Open House from 4 to 6 p.m. Click here to access the invitation.
