Scheduling a Photographer
Marketing and Creative Services offers photography management services. We do not have a full-time staff photographer so requests for photography must be planned in advance. We utilize internal resources for photography that emphasize academic and campus life, on occasion. Most photography is contracted to freelance professionals and, therefore, should be made at least two weeks in advance. Use the photo request form to request a session. Photography is handled in three categories: PRIORITY 1 Marketing and Creative Services coordinates, funds and manages the photography.
• Any event or photo that marks a milestone in University history, culture or image - groundbreaking - major donations - new partnerships - any event for the president, VIPs or dignitaries as appropriate
• VIPs or dignitaries as guest or major speaker (BOT member, donor, legislator, etc.)
• Photos of campus, student life, buildings, etc., that will be used in high-profile publications and have the potential for multiple uses and repurposing. This will be determined by Marketing and Creative Services and/or University Communications and Marketing.
PRIORITY 2 Marketing and Creative Services advises, coordinates and manages the photography, however, the client pays for the freelance photographer.
• Events such as luncheons or banquets where FAU dignitaries may be in attendance but are not guest speakers (potential for a press release and/or society page photo opportunity)
• Photography with limited use University-wide
PRIORITY 3 Marketing and Creative Services offers a list of photographers; however, the client manages and funds the project.
• Events and receptions where FAU dignitaries are not scheduled to attend
• Events that do not have University-wide significance
• Photos with limited “shelf-life” or long-term use
PRIORITY 4 Creative Services offers a digital camera for checkout.
• Documentation of construction
• Student events, camera must be checked out by a staff or faculty member
• Photos with no long-term benefit to the University
