FAU Raises $250,000 in Sponsorships for Presidential Primary Debates
BOCA RATON, FL (January 11, 2008) – Florida Atlantic University announced today that it has raised more than $250,000 in sponsorships for the U.S. Democratic and Republican presidential primary debates it will host January 24 and 27. The debates are scheduled to take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, located at 777 Glades Road.
The GEO Group and Delray Beach-based Office Depot are the two lead FAU sponsors for the debates.
“Office Depot is proud to demonstrate its ongoing support of FAU through the sponsorship of the U.S. presidential debates,” said Steve Odland, Office Depot Chairman and CEO. “We understand the critical role that civic responsibility plays in our society and our lives. Through our sponsorship, we are able to reinforce the importance of being engaged citizens as well as the value of the right to vote.”
“The presidential debates have taken on a new critical importance in the selection of the new president,” said George Zoley, chairman and CEO of the GEO Group, Inc. “The GEO Group is proud to be a sponsor of the FAU presidential debates.”

The presidential debates will be televised live on MSNBC, and are produced by Leadership Florida, the Florida Press Association and Florida Public Broadcasting Service, Inc.
