FAU to Host 'Fabulous 4th' Celebration
Festivities include Stephen Sondheim’s Musical “Company,” a Stage Show, Concert and Fireworks
BOCA RATON, FL (June 15, 2009) – In collaboration with the City of Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University will host a “Fabulous 4 th” celebration on Saturday, July 4. The festivities will start at 4 p.m. with a special staging of Stephen Sondheim’s musical, “Company.” This will be followed at 6 p.m. with various family activities and games at the Carnival Midway. Then, at 6:30 p.m., the stage show “Red, White & Blue Spectacular” will bepresented by ZMC Entertainment . At 7:30 p.m., the Florida Wind Symphony,under the direction of Dr. Kyle Prescott, will present a patriotic, hand-clapping musical tribute. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
“Company,” which is presented by the department of theatre and dance in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, will take place in FAU’s University Theatre, just one block away from the site where the entertainment takes place (the southeast corner of the University). Tickets for the play are $15, and admission to the other events is free. There will be food vendors on site. All parking is free, and there will be directions to parking areas from the Glades Road entrances to campus. FAU’s Boca Raton campus is located at 777 Glades Road, ½ mile east of I-95.
