Harmonic Motion Middle Eastern Music Ensemble’s “Dafatir: Contemporary Iraqi Book Art,” focuses on folkloric and ethnic idioms and cross-cultural projects. It headlined the center’s “Listening to Mutanabbi Street” concert and reading in July. Dafatir, an Arabic word meaning notebook, highlights the flourishing book arts in Iraq and celebrates the persistence of the artistic impulse in a nation troubled by tyranny and war. Proceeds will benefit the education fund of the nonprofit Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts.
