FAU Presents Piano and Jazz Concerts
BOCA RATON, FL (October 12, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University’s department of music presents a weekend of music with an FAU piano faculty concert “88 Keys! 50 Fingers!” on Saturday, October 21 at 7 p.m. and the Jazz Ratz! Quintet on Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. Both concerts will take place in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Admission to each concert is $15 at the door, and FAU students, faculty, staff and alumni may obtain free admission with ID.
The piano concert will include several pieces by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and pieces by Fritz Kreisler, Claude Debussy, Frederic Chopin, Sergei Prokofiev and others. FAU’s piano faculty include Heather Coltman, chair of the department of music, Russian-American pianist Irena Kofman, Duo Turgeon members Anne-Louise Turgeon and Edward Turgeon and FAU Chamber Soloist co-founder Leonid Treer.
The Jazz Ratz! will perform a program of original arrangements of songs recorded by the jazz fusion group, The Yellowjackets. Performers include Mike Brignola on sax/woodwinds, Tim Walters on trumpet/flugelhorn, Rob Rimmington on bass, Dave Hammer on piano and Tony Lavender on drums.
