FAU to Host Academic Service-Learning Symposium
WHAT: Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Teaching and Learning and The Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service will host the “Multidisciplinary Perspectives to Academic Service-Learning: From Concept to Capacity” symposium
WHEN: Thursday, November 19 from 8 a.m. to noon
WHERE: Florida Atlantic University College of Business Office Depot Executive Center 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton

The “Multidisciplinary Perspectives to Academic Service-Learning: From Concept to Capacity” symposium will encourage students and community partners to come together with FAU faculty and discuss the benefits of academic service-learning, a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.
The academic service-learning faculty learning community also will give a presentation on how the academic service-learning pedagogy has been effectively integrated into University coursework, as well as provide ways to become better stewards in the community. Light refreshments will be served.
