Jewish Cultural Society at FAU Hosts ‘Building the Judaica Sound Archives: From Trash to Treasure’
WHAT: The Jewish Cultural Society (JCS) at Florida Atlantic University, a unique fundraising group, is hosting “Building the Judaica Sound Archives: From Trash to Treasure,” a presentation by Nathan Tinanoff, founder and director of the FAU Libraries’ Judaica Sound Archives (JSA).
WHEN: Sunday, January 18, at 3 p.m.
WHERE: Florida Atlantic University S.E. Wimberly Library, fifth floor 777 Glades Road Boca Raton, FL 33431
COST: $10 for members; $15 for two family members; $15 for non-members.

The Jewish Cultural Society(JCS) at Florida Atlantic university has been collecting recorded music and voices of the early 20 th century since 2002. Tinanoff will discuss how the JSA became one of the fastest growing collections of Judaica recordings in the world. His presentation will cover past challenges and innovative directions for the future. This event will be filled with photographs and musical selections from original phonograph recordings, as well as a demonstration of the JSA’s unique and innovative website www.fau.edu/jsa. Proceeds will benefit the JCS.
