FAU Names Brenda Coto Director of Development for College of Engineering

BOCA RATON, FL (February 18, 2005) -- Florida Atlantic University recently named Brenda Coto director of development for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Serving as a member of University Advancement, Coto will be responsible for all fund-raising activities within the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Coto came to FAU in January 2003 to direct the technology programs for the InternetCoast Institute. "Liaising with South Florida technology companies, Brenda has cultivated new business and governmental partnerships for FAU," said Ann Paton, vice president of University Advancement. "We are very pleased that Brenda has moved into this new role and look forward to her success as a fundraiser."

Coto has 20 years experience in private industry. She previously served as a project management analyst for AutoNation, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, where she coordinated and implemented technology solutions for dealerships in Florida, California and Arizona. Her position as information technology (IT) director at Cisneros Television Group afforded her the opportunity to develop and build the company's first data center in Miami. Cisneros Television Group, now part of Claxson, creates television properties throughout the world and has ownership interests in many global media, entertainment and telecommunications. She has also held positions with Electronic Data Systems, Pepsi Cola's Latin American Division and Disney Consumer Products' Latin American Division.

A 1987 graduate of Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, Coto majored in computer information systems. She is presently pursing a master of business administration degree at Florida Atlantic University. Her professional affiliations include membership to the West Boca Raton Community Academy Advisory Board and the InternetCoast Education Committee. She is a current member of IT Florida's Access, Education and Workforce Committee and the Broward Alliance Technology Committee.
