FAU Holds Juried Student Art Exhibition

BOCA RATON, FL (April 14, 2005) - Florida Atlantic University’s School of the Arts will hold its first juried student exhibition on FAU’s downtown Fort Lauderdale campus Monday, April 11 through Sunday, April 24. The show, which will include works in graphic design, computer arts and animation, and architecture will be held in Studio 728 of the Askew Tower on FAU’s Fort Lauderdale campus, 111 East Las Olas Boulevard. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.

“We are looking forward to showcasing all that FAU’s Visual Arts and Art History department has to offer in Broward,” said Angela DiCosola, chair of the Visual Arts and Art History department at FAU. “Our graduates are pursuing opportunities in everything from digital video production to cartoon animation to graphic design.”

FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters offers a bachelor of fine arts and a master of fine arts in computer arts and animation and a master of fine arts in graphic design at the Fort Lauderdale campus.

“Our cutting edge artists and state-of-the-art studios at our Fort Lauderdale and Davie campuses offer our students industry-standard equipment and software,” said William A. Covino, dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. “As a result, our students are doing some of the best work in the region.”

The exhibition, which will be juried by Seattle-based designer Terry Marks, is being presented in collaboration with FAU’s College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs. It is sponsored by the Designer’s Edge and Sketch, Tarpon Bend Food and Tackle, Stork’s Bakery Coffee and Café, Di Loreto and Sons Pepsiamericas, Brittany Sales, FAU’s National Alumni Association, FAU Student Government, and the Department of Visual Arts and Art History in the Dorothy F.
